July’s Inspiration for the Church of Salmon Arm. A look at spiritualist beliefs.

Let us open with a prayer:

I give the highest vibrational beings permission to listen to my thoughts and act on my behalf every day. I align myself with the God of my understanding and Universal Consciousness.

As my days unfold from this moment forward, I offer kindness to the Universe. I forgive myself for things I have done that were not in my best interest and did not resonate with my purpose here in this life.

I send love to those on the other side that I dearly miss, and in doing so, the wonder comes back into my heart. My knowing is of a future filled with love and creativity. May knowledge come forth into all of us, and carry us forward to the place we are all destined to be. May we believe again.

And so, it is.

Beliefs

As I am writing this, I discovered I am in a somber mood, one that is looking out of my psychic spiritual window at a world that genuinely needs uplifting. And I start from that moment to have an exchange on “belief” with my guides.

Of course, in today’s world we can go online and search for answers too. To begin with, I looked up the origins of the word belief; I was taken back to Old Germanic, and discovered its origins are “to hold dear, esteem, trust”.

Let’s talk about the importance of belief and how that applies to spiritualism. For it has always been a creed of mine — what we believe is what we create. Many spiritualists understand that energy follows thought, and a lot of the solutions to general problems come from that understanding.

· In the Seven Principles of Spiritualism, all of the principles deal with belief as a foundation. The Presence of a Universal Force is the belief that we are connected to that presence, and that there is an exchange. It speaks of a form of unseen intelligence that comes in the form of protection, guidance and alignment. This belief is the connection to all that is, to source energy and to the God of our understanding. No wonder it is the top of this list.

· Then, the Acceptance of the Equality of All People places us with the belief that a higher and greater good is also universally present in our daily lives. It is within all of us, and is all of us. That no man is an island, that understanding yourself can lead to understanding of all others. A drop of water is the micro version of the ocean it comes from.

· Thirdly, we believe that Communication with Spirit and The Ministrations of Angels are the center of this church. Without which messages and inspiration would not happen. We rest our pain, weariness and misguided ways on their shoulders each Sunday so that we can gain deeper understanding of our families, friends, and acquaintances. Commun — i — cation.

· In understanding the above, we come to The Continual Existence of All Souls. Our certainty of life after life, that the journey is forgiving and many opportunities are offered to see all sides of any moment. This one belief also needs us to have faith that the Universe is bigger than we can possibly imagine.

· One of my favourites is Personal Responsibility. This takes a bigger form of belief that I would call a knowing. By stepping back into the observer and allowing universal thought mind to open your heart to be connected to all others for many generations into the future and into the past. It is the ‘Be’ in belief.

· Without personal responsibility, we could not Redress All Deeds Done on Earth. This principle is not a negative state of mind. Instead, it is a celebration of humanity, an understanding of why we came here to be who we are. These lives we live offer progress on a level we need to experience. It is the little train that could believe in itself and chant, “Yes I can — Yes I can — Yes I can” until belief becomes reality and we can travel into the downside of the mountains.

· Finally, the Eternal Progress Open to All Souls. Without an understanding of belief, this principle does not exist. Progress and belief are conjoined in our spiritual practices, creating an environment when incarnate where we can grow, to teach, to learn, repeat. A year can happen in a moment, and a moment can take years. Beauty arrives with understanding this principle and gives us universal reasoning. If we quote Bob Dylan, “In the fury of the moment I can see the Master’s hand. In every leaf that trembles, in every grain of sand.”

Beyond our spirituality are our private beliefs and the power they offer our souls. When we feel wronged, we can look at why that is by examining our beliefs. Then miraculously change future outcomes by changing what we believe.

As we age, there is a natural evolution of beliefs. We come to understand all sides of the story, for example, how we interact with our parents or our children. Balance in belief rises and offers us shelter.

“To hold dear, esteem, trust” … belief is one of the top powers we have, and it doesn’t need you to have an ability to use it. It just takes reflection, introspection, quiet, and resolve. I believe in all of us, and know that belief matters deeply.
